Hello darlings,

I wanted to mention an idea I had this week, and see if I can get some interest and feedback. I am thinking of organizing a KC fashion blogger Pecha Kucha night. The Pecha Kucha format is fast-paced, visual, and an easy way to present things that are inspiring you without having to talk for very long. I thought it would be a fun way to get together and share what’s inspiring us — and maybe have cocktails. I don’t know if anyone else thinks this sounds fun, but check out the official Pecha Kucha site that I linked to for more information. If you like the idea, please leave me a comment!

Ok, that’s my genius idea for the week, now for some lovely links.

Secrets in Lacing: Fairy Goth Mother has an article on their blog about the difference between their corsets and cheap knock offs. The video in the post makes it pretty clear. It’s been my experience that cheap corsets aren’t sized well and aren’t made to really define the figure, and their findings certainly support this.

An offer she couldn’t refuse: Vintage Mafia member, Fleur de Guerre recently starred in a short film (2 minutes in length), which can be seen here. Isn’t she beautiful? Plus the film is very moody and interesting. I love that blonde streak in her hair, though I think she had to get rid of it — sad face!

I can’t do that because: Some people are possessed by their excuses, or tales of victim-mentality. Don’t be one of them.

Yes, girls can be friends: An ode to girlfriends

I am still thinking about happy hour with my gal pals, which of course leads me to consider outfits…

Summer Cocktails...

Phase Eight bolero jacket, 49; Betsey Johnson glitter shoes, $220; Tom Ford eyeglasses sunglasses, 179; MAC Lipstick Creme Cup (C) One Size, $15; NARS Illuminator, $29; Rockabilly Girl by Bernie Dexter**50s style Garage Girl Indigo Romper…, $150

It Girl: Damn it, I can’t help it. Anne Hathaway looks so 60′s Mod and adorable. And who doesn’t want to stand around flanked by attractive men?

Another round: Beau Williams, barman, genius, Hawaii expert, and soon to be groom was featured on The Employee Lounge this week.

One last thing: My mom rules. She made me two snoods!

A few local shopping notes:

Purple please: Retro Vixen has Lux Deville’s new purple bags in stock. I am not a huge fan of purple, but this is such a great alternative to black for Summer that transitions well into Fall, because jewel tones are always a Fall trend.

Also: Retro Vixen is having a 10% off swimsuit sale this week. The heat isn’t going away any time soon so you might as well get a sale swim suit before hitting the pool this weekend!

Island dreams: Rock Candy Boutique still has lots of authentic Hawaiian print 60′s and 70′s maxi dresses, as well as a whole new crop of peasant blouses she just put out.

Shoe gazing: Habitat Shoes still has a ton of shoes and clothing on sale, but I think they are starting to preview Fall stuff if you’re sick of thinking about the heat.

3rd Friday: Donna’s Dress Shop, Rock Candy and Retro Vixen (among others) are all staying open late this Friday. Some stores are featuring artists, while some are just offering cold beverages as you make your way down the street. There’s usually some live music, and there are tons of places to grab dinner or drinks, so head down there for awhile tomorrow night!

What are your plans for the weekend? Leave me a comment!
xoxo
