We spent New Year’s with a small group of friends at one of their houses. They had just gotten a new bar, have a terrific karaoke set up, and we all pitched in to make a delicious dinner. I have a pair of black high-waisted shorts but wanted something more formal for New Year’s. Thus, I decided to head to everyone’s favorite disposable party-wear emporium, Forever 21 on New Year’s Eve afternoon to look for shorts.
The place was a madhouse of teenagers (where are they going for NYE anyway?) but my instincts were right, and I found a terrific pair of tuxedo-inspired shorts that fit, and they were of course, inexpensive. The photo doesn’t really show the detailing, but it’s cute — just what I was looking for. That doesn’t happen every often at Forever 21!
This outfit was all about textures of black upon black. And I didn’t really realize it until I took my hair out of the curlers but the outfit is quite Alison Goldfrapp, as you can see.
Yeah, I’ve admired her for a long time. I think she’s a terrific inspiration for 2012.
A little 20′s, a little Biba, a lot glam.

Love this outfit. Sure, it’s all black, but the different textures and fabrics make it an eye-catching ensemble. What a chic way to ring in 2012!
