I so, so love this shoe! The retro inspired heel is very 1940′s (and looks easy to walk in)! Plus it comes in several prints in different colorways so there’s sure to be one that works with your wardrobe. I miss Max Factor. They made some of my favorite mascara, and they did make great eyeliner.

I don’t even remember the last time I went to a Wendy’s, but now I want a coffee. I hate when advertising works on me!

I really believe that if you are showing a lot of one area of the body, proportionally, it looks best to wear something with more coverage elsewhere. If all of a girl’s attributes are on display all at the same time, you get into taste issues.

I am starting to wear more neutrals this year. This secretary blouse was one of my first forays into a neutral that works with black — the chain print is black — and I loved it. Then, when I was in Las Vegas in February I got this nude patent bag at Mango, and this week was my first time carrying it. This is going to be my go-to bag for warmer months because it goes with everything. I’m so excited to have a bag that isn’t black!

This week has been so fun. I had to leave town the day the Star article published, which kinda sucked, but the feedback has been really sweet and positive. It was great to be able to give a shout out to a few local businesses that have great hats, and also point out that there are budget options for those new to the trend. My grandpa called my parents at 7 a.m. on Saturday to tell them there was a big photo of me in the paper. Cute!

I had a great time in Philly, where I went for work, and I’ve been distributing West 18th Street Fashion Show fliers out south since my return, and keeping up with their social media. I just ordered the dress I am planning to wear to it, and I am so excited! This weekend I am getting the herb garden planted before I go out of town again, and hopefully doing some relaxing on the balcony. There are a bunch of other events going on but I am putting off deciding what to do until the last minute, and will see what I feel like. I won’t get to see my mom this weekend, which is a bummer, but Happy (early) Mothers’ Day to all the moms out there, all the same!

Here’s what I’ve been in love with this week!

• Huffington Post Style shows how to get a beachy, pinup look inspired by a 1945 pinup.
• At home pedicure. This incorporates lavender essential oil which I love…also, does anyone else think “Trout Pout” is the funniest name for a nail polish EVER? Sometimes doing it yourself is more relaxing than being in a chair next to a gal on her cell phone.
• The red carpet at the MET gala was for the most part, gorgeous, and the exhibit looks amazing.
• This caramel recipe is making me want to find a reason to use it.
• There’s a ton of cool stuff on sale at Blue Q right now. Think it’s time to start my holiday shopping, for sure!
• I stopped in Standard Style this week and picked up some pink neon pyramid stud earrings. They have so many awesome neon accessories right now for every price point!
• If you’re in California, Drew Barrymore is debuting her first wine, with a label created by artist Shepard Fairey. Celeb liquors are so funny to me, but somehow this collaboration works in my mind.

T-straps are just darling in my book, and this 40s inspired style would pair great with peddle pushers and a crop top, a circle skirt, or a darling dress with a puffed sleeve. Hi all! Busy week this week, partially because — woohooo — West 18th St. Fashion Show tickets went on sale! Buying a ticket is really the way to go because 1) you’re supporting the show; 2) you get a seat; 3) if you buy a VIP ticket you get a sweet, sweet swag bag; and 4) if (nooooooooo!) it were to rain, only ticket holders get to see the show at the alternate indoor location. There’s a truly impressive roster of talent this year — trust me, I’ve had a sneak peek at what they are doing — so you’re definitely going to want a good vantage point. Plus everyone knows if you are standing at a fashion show, then you might as well not be there. You’re going to want to say you were right by the runway, right? Now that I have convinced you, buy your ticket online, at Birdies or at Donna’s Dress Shop. Tell ‘em I sent ya!

Hello beautiful people! This week has been fun, partially because the weather got really Summery in the middle of the week, and partially because of my face appearing in INK. I was asked, along with several other people, where their favorite places to drink are, and you can read everyone’s list in the print version and online. I love being able to give my favorite bars and restaurants some well-deserved publicity. My photo with Jason Valentine of Tannin, is the cover on INK’s Facebook page right now too. I’m a big dork, I know.

Is anyone else doing some Spring Cleaning right now? I got a lot accomplished last weekend, and my husband took a ton of stuff to donate this week. This weekend I am hoping to finish up, as I’ll be traveling the first weekend in May! Anyway here are some links I’ve found this week:

While I would never claim to know everything, I know a hell of a lot, thanks to the education I received from my beauty professional friends. Additionally, I have sensitive skin that used to be prone to break outs so I’ve educated myself on  what ingredients are more likely to cause problems. Of course, your milage may vary, but know that these are products I’ve actually used, and they work for me.

I don’t exclusively use natural products but I use a bunch on the regular, so here’s my Earth Day (week) round up of the things I love the best. Enjoy!

Weleda Everon Lip Balm. You can find this at your Whole Foods and most good organic markets. Shea butter is what makes this stuff so amazing. It heals cracks overnight, and makes a great lipstick base too!

Abba Color Protection shampoo and conditioner. This is sulfate free and 100% vegan. For someone who colors like me, it’s amazing! If you don’t color, their Moisture formula is also amazing, and the conditioner is delightfully minty.

Kiss My Face — Pomegranate Grapefruit Moisture Shave is paraben free and full of lots of naturally moisturizing ingredients. Plus it smells heavenly. This plus a sharp razor equals smooth gams all summer!

Giovanni Eco Chic — Shine of the Times high gloss hair mist. The instructions say to spray this in the air and walk under it, but —meh — I don’t. I spray once in my hand, rub hands together and smooth over hair carefully. Works on straight and curly styles without making hair greasy.

JASON Brightening Apricot Face Scrubble. This you want to keep out of your eyes, but it’s great for keeping that peaches and cream pinup complexion flake free in the winter, and  removes sweat and sunscreen in the summer (though really, you’re wearing sunscreen year-round, right?).

Tarte — Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara. This stuff thickens like a mofo, doesn’t flake, and is made from lots of natural ingredients, without some of the ickies that show up in conventional mascaras. It’s not one I use all the time because of the price ($19) but it’s an awesome option if mascara typically irritates you. Plus the packaging is recyclable and printed with soy ink. The Physicians Formula Organic Wear mascara is a great inexpensive natural alternative. Be warned though, if you cry while wearing this, it burns like the dickens (true story).

Everyday Minerals — Semi-matte Base. This is my go-to mineral powder, I have been wearing it for years. It’s less sparkly than other mineral foundations and less expensive. I love the super short ingredients list, and the closable sifter makes it great for traveling to pinup shoots and beyond! Their color selection can’t be beat, and they even offer inexpensive sample kits that you can customize with the colors you think will work for you.
