This past weekend was the 11th annual Greaserama. As we walked into the Boulevard Drive-In it definitely looked like the best turnout I’ve seen in 3 years. Saturday was not all that fun for a girl who had curled her hair and was wearing her favorite vintage day dress though. Several downpours forced us to hide in the Retro Vixen tent with her retro inspired wares huddled around us.
Here’s me and my honey, aren’t we precious? Thank you to Rachael of Atomic Photography for this photo! Other than watching Labretta Suede, we didn’t get out from under the tent much. I didn’t even get to go see Steve Giangreco, or Pinup Pasteries!
Sunday was way nicer. Sunny and low 70′s, decent number of cars came back, and I made the wise decision to wear a pencil skirt, because there was some wind. The people at Greaserama are always so nice, and sometimes I get asked to pose, which I always happily do!
Mmm…Impala.
I’m going to cheat and use this as my “Frock Friday” for the week. If there’s anywhere that I can dress in retro fashion, it’s Greaserama.
Here’s the outfit breakdown:
Sweater: thrifted
Skirt: Bettie Page
Sandals: Me Too, from DSW
Hair flower: H&M
Purse: The lovely Lux de Ville again!
Cool Pontiac hood ornament.
It did get warm in the afternoon!
BTW, that’s the Shellac manicure I got before I went to Las Vegas. Yes, it lasted that long. I freaking love those manicures!
With a vintage fire engine. The guys were nice enough to let me climb up there! The siren could be heard throughout the drive-in all day long.
The Haunted Creepys played again this year. Except these Creepys were from Outer Space, the other Creepys were imposters. Got that?
The Spook Lights shook a tail feather on stage.
One of the coolest retro inspired fashion things I’d wanted to do for years was get a purse (two, actually) pinstriped! I took the pinstriper two bags that I’d kind of been holding on to hoping to get this done. Melissa got one of her Lux de Ville bags pinstriped, and it turned out really well. She has the contact information for the guy who did it, he’s in KCK if anyone is interested in getting a car or purse done!
Here are my crappy cell phone pictures of the bags. Time just got away from me this week, so forgive me. The bigger bag is a Bettie Page one that I’ve had but don’t carry as much as my black patent Lux de Ville Sin City bag, but now I’ve got more incentive. The tiny one with the green and white is a vintage bag I picked up for $4 at Arizona Trading Company in Lawrence last Spring, with the intention of having it pinstriped. I am so happy with how they both turned out!
Saturday kind of sucked but overall this year was really fun and it’s always a chance to see people you haven’t seen in a year! I can’t wait til next year!
I’ve got a Fashion’s Night Out post to knock out for you guys, so until then, have a great weekend!
xoxo

I had a purse pin striped last year, its the best way to spruce up a cheap vintage purse!
